Looks like it's going to be awful. Hollywood dramatization cliches gallore, for entertainment purposes. Ways to make a buck. The only and best way to find out about J.R.R. Tolkiens life and have a clear picture is to watch a good documentary about him…or read a biography.

Here's to the last few fox searchlight films. Movies with some substance and Oscar potential. Not just big budget explosion movies. Once the mouse gets a hold of FOX as a whole it's over for more films like these.

I may be mistaken, but his stories arose from the bed time tales he told his children, and were then expanded into is writings, and were based upon his service in WW1 and the parallels he saw heading into the 30 with the rise of Adolf Hitler.

It was about what it is to follow God's plan for your life (risking harm in the service of those you love leading to a true and rewarding life) instead of following your own short sighted ambitions (what the ring represented as it possessed men to follow their own lusts but in the end only made them slaves to them). Cut these things out and the movie isn't even worth watching. The man was deeply Christian and even converted C.S. Lewis from being an atheist.

Oh good I wanted a movie about Tolkein where all the hidden racisms of his books swept under the rug and his life romanticised (books are still great don't get me wrong but when u see the underlying stuff some of it gets ruined)
